Happy Name day to all of you whose name day is today!
A wonderful family custom is the practice of celebrating the “Name day” of a person — on the feast of one’s patron saint, the person is honored in a special way.
It’s an age-old European custom in which those with the same or similar first name have one day a year assigned as their name day, and it is observed and celebrated by all the namesakes in the same manner as birthdays.
Usually a little party or festive food is included in the celebration. The favorite cake for the Name Day is baked in a fluted tube pan and is called Napfkuchen in Germany, Guglhupf in Austria, Kuglof in Hungary, and Babka among the Slavic nations.
The Name day is celebration in all worlds. This Name day cake I found in Hungary Kuglof cake by Zsuzsa is in the kitchen.
